This section covers everything that might come up while you're on the road — and even after your rental ends with Jumbo Car Costa Rica. These are the most frequently asked questions during the rental period and throughout your stay:

Yes, but it is subject to approval by Jumbo Car Costa Rica.

To request a change in the contract duration, you must: Call our agency at +506 22 55 86 26.

  • San José:

    07:00 am - 09:00 pm.

  • Liberia:

    08:00 am - 06:00 pm.

Conditions:

  • The extension of the contract depends on the availability of the vehicle.

  • A rate adjustment will apply based on the new duration.

  • Additional payment authorization may be required.

  • Important: Insurance and coverage only apply to the period stated in the contract. If you keep the vehicle beyond the agreed return date without authorization from Jumbo Car, it will no longer be covered by insurance.

No, at Jumbo Car Costa Rica we offer unlimited mileage. You can travel freely without worrying about the distance covered.

  • Each rental day is calculated in 24-hour periods starting from the pick-up time.

  • There is a 29-minute grace period when returning the vehicle.

  • If this period is exceeded, an additional day will be charged.

You must contact us immediately at +506 22 55 86 26 (08:00 am - 09:00 pm).

Important:

  • The cost of replacing the key and vehicle relocation will be at your expense.

  • Insurance coverage does not include this type of incident.

Steps to follow:

  • Ensure the area is safe and do not move the vehicle.

  • Call the traffic police (911) and the insurance company (800 7825 4827).

  • Wait for the arrival of an insurance agent and a traffic police officer, who will prepare the reports.

  • Present your passport, driver's license, and vehicle contract. In the case of a digital driver’s license, the customer must present the official version (PDF, image, or link) at the counter, including a code or QR code that allows its authenticity to be verified.

  • Once the reports are received, you must send them to Jumbo Car Costa Rica.

In case of a breakdown:

  • Our assistance service will take care of repairing the vehicle or arranging a replacement.

In case of an accident:

  • Follow the steps mentioned in the previous section and contact Jumbo Car Costa Rica.

Steps to follow:

  • Report the theft to the local police.

  • Present yourself at the Jumbo Car agency where you picked up the vehicle to deliver:

    • The vehicle keys.

    • The official theft report.

A deductible will apply according to the protection package contracted. For more information, consult our General Conditions.

No. It is not permitted to travel to Panama or Nicaragua with the vehicle.

All our vehicles are regularly inspected. However, we recommend:

  • Periodically checking water and oil levels.

  • Verifying tire pressure during long trips.

  • Immediately reporting any warning lights on the dashboard.
