Travelers needing extra luggage space or additional comfort for long drives may prefer an intermediate or full-size SUV.

It depends on your travel plans. If you're staying on paved roads between cities and beaches, a 2WD SUV is perfect. But if you're heading to remote places or national parks, an AWD or 4WD is safer and more comfortable.

Yes. Liability insurance required by Costa Rican law is mandatory for all rentals.

• Travelers from the US and Canada often choose the basic mandatory coverage and use the rental car insurance provided by their credit card. In this case, an official coverage certificate will be required at pickup depending on the protections selected.

• European travelers usually prefer packages including extended protection with reduced deductibles, similar to the coverage commonly included in European car rentals.

Additional protection options are available during the booking process to improve your coverage and reduce financial responsibility in case of damage or theft.
